This area is steeped in history, as the infamous Battle of Sheriffmuir took place here during the Jacobite uprising. The standard was raised just a short distance from where this lifting stone now rests. Every single MacRae man was killed in that battle, hence the memorial. Jamie Gorrian found, lifted, and named this stone in honor of Clan MacRae.
