A kirk (church) has stood here since the 1100s. The old kirk ruin is situated behind the new kirk, which was built in the 1700s. This stone sits directly in front of the front-facing wall and the track leading to the graveyard. The stone is clearly a river stone and has been placed here because the nearest river is currently a mile away, although in ancient times, the river came right up to the kirk.
